THE YEAR AHEAD: SNEEK PEEK
One of the most promising of big band CDs scheduled for release shortly pairs the two LPs that Sauter-Finegan did for United Artists, recorded in 1960 and 1961, respectively.  They are brilliant stereo recordings and will be accompanied by full documentation and colorful artwork.
Finally we will reach the last volume of the 1946-47 AFRS Benny Goodman shows issued by Sounds of YesterYear.  The ending volume will be a 2-CD set.
Of course, there'll be other big band CDs in the next eleven months... Miller, et al.
Also due out in 2014 is the bio-discography Bobby Hackett: His Life and Music, written by the Bert Whyatt (who died last April) and George Hulme.
Meanwhile, it's rumored that a famous venue where big bands at one time performed, The Roseland Ballroom in New York City, is planning to close soon.  If true, it would be a loss.
